The Odeon of Lugdunum
Description
The Odeon, the smaller theatre used for public music and poetry performances, was built at the end of the 1st century CE or at the beginning of the 2nd century CE. It had 3,000 seats. The orchestra pavement was made of the most beautifully coloured marble in the Roman world, including green porphyry from Greece, red porphyry and granite from Egypt, yellow marble from Africa and purple and red marble from Asia Minor.
