Description
The Amphitheatrum Castrense, part of an Imperial villa complex which was built by emperors of the Severan dynasty. The building was a regular ellipse 88 meters long and 76 meters wide and stood three storeys high with open arcades on the exterior framed by Corinthian half-columns. It was constructed out of brick-faced concrete, with a few decorative elements in travertine. Only a section of the lowest story is preserved.
